United’s Walloping Might Be A Good Omen

Leicester City were the unlikely winner of the EPL in 2016. It occured against all odds.

But guess what, they were nowhere near winning until a match against Arsenal which they hosted and lost 5-2.

It was after that match that Leicester City sat down under Claudio Ranieri and re-strategised. The rest is history.

Leicester City from then on, lost fewer matches and by slim margins.

Manchester United lost 5-0 at home to Liverpool in the EPL on Sunday. It was a humiliation, An annihilation by a side that they share mutual hatred with.

Not just that. Liverpool were out of sight by half time. 4-0. The social media space was literally on fire with even suggestions that manager Ole Gunnar Solkjaer could be fired at half time. It didn’t happen anyway.

Truly, United had been poor and it boils down to imbalance in the squad. It could boast of Ronaldo, Cavani, Rasford and others, but the midfield looks paperweight and the defence all over the place.

Somebody rightly noted that bringing Ronaldo with a “rookie” coach could spell doom.

Nobody should take anything away from Liverpool. They’ve been brilliant under Jurgen Klopp, who demands intensity all through the games. They press and press until you commit errors. And they don’t lack clinical finishers in Sadio Mane, Mohammed Salah and even Firmino.

Mohammed Salah had his feast at Old Trafford as he scored a hat trick.

The United board will have to decide on what to do with Ole, But for Nigerian fans its #OleOut.
