Timo Werner On Song in Nations League
Timo Werner scored for Germany against Spain last night in the Nations League to the delight of Chelsea fans.
The striker scored the opening goal against Spain – firing past Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea in the process – but a late equaliser was scored by Jose Gaya made it 1-1.
Werner saw plenty of space in the Spain box, sidestepped a defender and lashed into the bottom corner giving De Gea absolutely no chance.
The 51st minute effort looked like it had given Germany the win but conceded a 96th minute goal.
Gaya was in the right place at the right time to tap into an empty net deep into stoppage time despite the protestations from the home side.
Kieffer Moore scored a late goal to give Wales a 1-0 win over Finland.
Moore thought he had give Wales and early lead when he headed home Daniel James’ cross after four minutes but Welsh celebrations were swiftly cut short for a push on Finland defender Leo Vaisanen.
Bale also went close twice and Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey was little more than a spectator as the game drifted towards the break with few moments of goalmouth action.
