Rivers United Maintain 100 Percent Record in NPFL

Rivers United on Sunday defeated Kwara United 3-0 at the Adokiye Amasiamaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, to maintain a perfect record after round three of matches in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The Port- Harcourt based side are also yet to concede any goals this season having won the two previous encounters 1-0. They now top the NPFL table with nine points.

Coach Stanley Eguma expressed his pleasure with the performance of the players in a post-match interview: “I commend my players and also thank God. It was a good game……. for today I thank my players for a good job done. The league is still in the early stage, there are other strong teams in the league….”

In the other matches decided at various centres across the country, Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars drew 1-1 while Katsina United defeated Adamawa United 2-0.

Plateau United thrashed managerless Heartland FC 3-0. The Naze Millionaires reportedly travelled to Jos without their coach Fidelis Ilechukwu.

Heartland are owing players and coaches salaries.

Warri Wolves lost 3-0 away to Lobi Stars.

On Saturday, Akwa United narrowly defeated Abia Warriors 1-0.Enyimba FC won 1-0 against Wikki Tourists while MFM won 1-0 against Sunshine Stars.

Jigawa Golden Stars lost 0-1 at home to Rangers while Dakkada FC also had a 1-0 victory away at FC IfeanyiUbah.
