Fury Eyes Tyson, Rocky Exhibition Bouts

TYSON FURY has announced he remains retired from boxing despite insisting just hours before that he would return to the ring for the right price.

The WBC heavyweight champion, 33, called time on his glistening career in April following his win over Dillian Whyte.

Recent reports suggested that he could face the winner out of Anthony Joshua’s rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed match-up.

But the unbeaten Mancunian quickly shut down those rumours as he denied he is in talks about a return to the ring.

However he told Frank Warren’s Queensbury Promotions on Tuesday that will “100 per cent” step back inside the squared circle.

Less than 24 hours later the Gypsy King has backtracked on those comments having made a U-turn on his U-turn.

Discussing his future on Good Morning Britain, Fury said: “As far as I’m concerned I’m happily retired, happy and content with my career and what I’ve done.

“Never say never, but as far as I’m concerned, me and professional boxing are absolutely kaput.

“Enough is enough, I’m happy to do the showbiz side of boxing.”

He then stated that he will only take part in exhibition fights going forward.

Fury remarked: “Nothing’s happened, I’m going to do some exhibition matches so not real fights. They’re purely entertainment factor.

“This is not professional boxing, this is pure entertainment. Hollywood-style entertainment. That’s all it is. Nothing more, nothing less.”

He continued: “I’m looking at fighting Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, rank Bruno, whoever. The Rock – Dwayne Johnson, that’ll be fantastic.

“You know you never know who we could be fighting on one of these shows, but that’s what I’m hoping to in the upcoming future.”

Fans were left confused by his comments, as one user tweeted: “Does retirement not mean retirement in sport nowadays?”

Another messaged: “I love Tyson but what is he talking about. We know hes coming back for Usyk or Joshua 100%.”

A third joked: “Would make a great Conservative leader, says one thing then does another.”

This fan then said: “Vacate your belts and lineage status for the sake of humanity. Totally unfair to freeze the whole division.

“Fury is no stranger to making wild remarks having previously revealed he plans to make a career in WWE.

He even welcomed UFC heavyweight champ into the ring after beating Whyte to tease a sensational crossover bout with the MMA ace.
