Former Super Eagles Defender Babalade Dead

A former Super Eagles defender Ajibade Babalade has died aged 48.

Former Super Eagles and 3SC defender Ajibade Babalade was confirmed to have died of suspected cardiac arrest in Ibadan on Friday.

He was the team manager of Nigeria National League outfit Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC).

Babalade played for the Nigeria national team in the 90s and he was part of the team that won bronze at the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.

He starred for 3SC, Stationery Stores and Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland FC) during his playing days.

He was a hard-as-nail, uncompromising defender.
