Confed Cup: Enyimba Win Coming from Behind

Enyimba FC of Aba defeated ES Setif of Algeria 2-1 in Aba on Sunday in the group stage of CAF Confederation Cup.

The visitors took the lead in the first half while Austin Oladapo’s penalty was saved a few moments later. The striker later atoned for his earlier miss for the equaliser while Super Eagles’Anayo Iwuala dazzled the Algerian defense before laying a pass for Tosin Omoyele who slotted beyond the on rushing goalkeeper.

However, the Aba Millionaires rallied and scored twice to move to the top of the table in Group A.

Enyimba FC have now won two matches in three having lost away to Orlando Pirates.

Raja Casablanca claimed a comfortable 2-0 win over Egyptian outfit Pyramids in a Group D match with both goals scored in the first-half in Casablanca. As a result, Raja remains the only club in this season’s competition with a 100 per cent record.

In Dar es Salaam, Diamond Chikwekwe’s solitary goal inspired Zambian giants Nkana to a 1-0 win over Tanzanian club Namungo in a Group D game.

Burkina Faso side Salitas succumbed to a 2-0 defeat to Senegalese side Jaaraf in a Group C game in Thies with both goals being scored in the second-half.

In Rades, Etoile du Sahel played to a 0-0 draw with their Tunisian rivals CS Sfaxien in another Group C encounter.

Meanwhile, South African giants Orlando Pirates were held to a 0-0 draw by Libyan club Al Ahli Benghazi in a Group A match in Benghazi.

Algeria’s JS Kabylie collected a point away from home when they held Moroccan side and defending champions RS Berkane to a 0-0 draw in a Group B match.

Still, in Group B, Abdouraman Daman’s solitary goal inspired Cameroonian giants Cotonsport to a 1-0 win over Zambian outfit NAPSA Stars in Lusaka.
