Aisha Buhari Cup: Dream Come True for Plumptre

Ashleigh Plumptre dreamt of playing for Nigeria and the Leicester Women defender has now been called up to the Austrian camp of the Super Falcons ahead of the Aisha Buhari Cup slated for Lagos later this year.

The half-caste, Plumtre, 23, had indicated her interest to lace her boots for fatherland in an earlier report.

She is the daughter of Tim Plumptre, who has Nigerian roots and his mother is English and has played for England at youth levels but is still eligible to play for Nigeria.

Though born in England, she moved to the US in 2016 for collegiate soccer with the University of Southern California which the team won.

She had started playing football at four and played for various amateur clubs. Plumptre has also played for England’s U-15, U-17, U-17 and U-23.
